Transportation

Gay Games participants can use their credential to ride all public transportation routes run by Greater Cleveland RTA, Akron Metro or Laketran. Most Games venues are along public transportation routes. Participants also can travel on Games-provided intercity shuttles and venue-specific transportation (where public transit routes are not convenient to those locations).

Participants will find a detailed route schedule in the TRANSPORTATION GUIDEBOOK in their bags. Copies also will be available at the Information Centers at the Accreditation Fairs and Festival Village.

The transportation schedule also can be found at www.2014GayGames.com. Note: The Cleveland-Akron shuttle service is approximately 75 minutes each way. Pick-up and drop-off locations include Cleveland Convention Center, Public Square in downtown Cleveland, Independence, Fairlawn and Akron Transit Center.

Scholarship

Gay Games 9 was honored to be able to offer two distinct scholarship programs. The original scholarship program sought applicants from the United States. More than two dozen recipients received scholarships so they could travel and participate in the Games. A special thanks to the families who are hosting these scholarship recipients while they are in Cleveland+Akron.

Earlier this summer, through the generous support of The George Gund Foundation and Metro Health System, a $50,000 Northeast Ohio scholarship fund was created. Administered by the Gay Games, LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland and CANAPI, more than 200 individuals from underrepresented Gay Games communities are participating in Games Week.
